Wash hands before putting on gloves

Place stool specimen in container carefully - avoid contaminating the outside of the container
Have client cough directly into the sputum specimen in container, securing the lid, and cleaning and storing material
Remove and discard gloves after placing specimen in container, securing the lid, and cleaning and storing materials
Wash hands after removing gloves, goggles, or mask
Dispose of used lancets according to agency policy and community regulations
