Dressing an Infant

Material needed:

• Shirt
• Sleeper
• Booties, if worn
• Receiving blanket
• Additional clothing according to the climate

Procedure:

1. Apply shirt:
   1. Stretch neck of shirt and pull over baby's head
   2. Place your hand inside the sleeve and reach up through the sleeve to grasp baby's hand and pull through
   3. Repeat on other side
   4. Pull shirt down over chest. If umbilical stump is still present, fold bottom of shift up to avoid rubbing

2. One piece sleeper:
   1. Unfasten all snaps on sleeper
   2. Lay garment on flat surface
   3. Place baby on garment
   4. Insert feet into lower portion of sleeper
   5. Place your hand inside the sleeve and reach up through the sleeve to grasp baby's hand and pull through
   6. Snap up garment

3. Booties:
   1. Roll booties over your hand, inside out
   2. Grasp infant's toes and turn booties up and over foot with other hand
