Procedure:

1. Explain what you are going to do
2. Wash your hands
3. Obtain materials listed above and place them in order of use on chair near bed
4. Place laundry container near bed
5. Raise bed to convenient working height and lower both rails
6. Place bed in flat position
7. Remove pillows and place on chair
8. Loosen all bed linens - at head, sides, and bottom of bed
9. Remove each piece of bed linen separately. Fold any linens to be reused. Roll each remaining linen into a ball and discard in laundry container
10. Place mattress pad, folded lengthwise, in center of bed. Unfold one half and roll to center of bed
11. Place bottom sheet, folder lengthwise, in center of bed. Unfold one half and roll to center of bed
    • Fitted sheets - place ends around corners - top and bottom; tuck side of sheet under mattress
    • Flat sheet - place bottom hem of sheet even with edge of mattress at foot of bed; tuck Top of sheet under mattress at head of bed

12. Miter corner at head end of mattress
13. Tuck sheet under side of entire mattress. Work from head of bed to foot
14. Place plastic draw sheet, folded in half, in center third of bed. Unfold and roll to center of bed
15. Place cotton draw sheet, folder in half, in center of bed, covering entire plastic draw-sheet
16. Tuck ends of plastic draw sheet and cotton draw sheet under mattress
17. Place top sheet, folder lengthwise, in center of bed, with top edge even with top mattress. Unfold and roll to center of bed
18. Place blanket, folded lengthwise, in center of bed, with top edge with top of mattress. Unfold and roll to center of bed
19. Place bedspread, folded lengthwise, in center of bed, with about 4 inches above top edge of mattress, Unfold and roll to center of bed
20. Tuck top sheet, blanket, and bedspread under foot mattress. Miter corner
21. Go to other side of bed
22. Pull through mattress pad and straighten
23. Pull through all lower linens. Straighten and tuck under mattress. Miter corner of sheet at head of bed. Or fit top and bottom corners of fitted sheet over mattress corners
24. Pull though top sheet, blanket, and spread. Smooth out wrinkles
25. Tuck top sheet, blanket, and bedspread under foot of mattress.
26. Miter corner at foot of bed
27. Make a cuff at top at top of bed and bring top sheet over blanket.
28. Place clean pillowcase on pillow, and place pillow at head of bed
29. Cover pillow with bedspread
30. Place bed in lowest position
31. Remove laundry containers and bring to washing machine or other location as requested by client or family
